What Are Phone Cards, Anyway?

To put it in simple terms, a phone card is a workaround way for you to make domestic and international calls at lower rates (than your current provider is charging you). Phone cards come with two important numbers: an access number and a PIN number (or a code), the latter being used for security purposes.

Basically, all you need to do is to search for a phone cards, set up an account with Phone Cards Central and buy the selected phone card. After you do this, you will receive your PIN number. To call any destination in the world, you only need to:

• Pick up the phone (any phone: landline, mobile or payphone);
• Dial the access number (Toll-free Access Number, or Local Access Number)
• Enter your PIN number
• Dial the number you want to call* (including country code, if you're calling abroad)
• Talk, talk, talk - at low rates!
• *Please make sure you DO NOT PRESS CALL or SEND BUTTON on your phone after you enter the destination number. This is to avoid being charged by your cellular provider for the international call.

Phone card providers are able to offer you such low rates, as they route the call with the specific purpose of getting a lower price from carriers. On top of that, they purchase minutes (from the same carriers) in bulk, so they get prices at significant discounts (compared to the per-minute prices you receive from your normal provider).
